Everton shareholder’s fury over Wolves incident spreads across social media with damaging screenshot shared widely

Everton and Wolves ended their Wednesday encounter in a 1-1 stalemate at the stadium, leaving David Moyes’ team frustrated after squandering a chance to secure three points. Michael Keane had put the home side ahead early on, but Mateus Nane equalized with twenty minutes remaining, allowing Rob Edwards’ visitors to extend their unbeaten run to three Premier League matches.

The match took a dramatic turn during the second half when referee Tom Kirk made several controversial decisions that sparked widespread anger among Everton supporters and officials. While Kirk correctly waved away Wolves’ penalty appeal early in the second period, his later judgments proved far more contentious and would dominate discussions after the final whistle.

Within seven minutes of each other, two red cards were issued that left the Everton contingent in disbelief. Keane received a straight red for violent conduct in the eighty-third minute after footage revealed he had grabbed Tolu Arokodare’s hair during a header contest. Jack Grealish was subsequently sent off for sarcastically clapping at Kirk following a free-kick decision, moments after already receiving a yellow card for dissent.

Everton shareholder and pundit Mike Parry immediately expressed his outrage through social media, circulating a screenshot of the Keane incident to thousands of followers. Parry argued the red card decision was unjustifiable, suggesting that a defender’s need to place hands on an opponent’s shoulders while protecting himself made contact with long hair unavoidable and hardly constituted violent conduct worthy of dismissal.

The dismissals created significant problems for Moyes moving forward. While losing Grealish to a one-game suspension represents a manageable concern, Keane’s three-match ban creates a defensive crisis. Everton now relies solely on Tarkowski and O’Brien as fit central defenders, with Branthwaite still sidelined by injury and unavailable for competitive action throughout the season.
